Faf du Plessis praised Dhoni’s ability to perform under challenging situations. Both are IPL teammate, Faf sees the former Indian skipper as the best finisher in the game.
The 38-year-old is leading CSK since its inaugural season. Under his captaincy, Chennai Super Kings has won three IPL trophies and a couple of Champions League tournaments. It was not only his captaincy abilities but also batting miracles that helped CSK to become one of the best franchises of the IPL. He took his side to the victory several times from the situation when winning the match looked impossible.
In a video clip posted by CSK, Faf du Plessis said that, in his opinion, the CSK captain is the best finisher of the game. It is always great to watch how Dhoni constructs his innings and leads the side to triumph on the back of his calculative mind.
He also recalled one of the innings against RCB from the previous season of Dhoni. CSK was in a difficult situation when they lost six wickets at the score of 60 runs, but Dhoni took the crease and changed the dimension of the game. Although the side lost the thrilling encounter by just one run, that knock was enough to tell how good Dhoni is when it comes to batting under challenging situations.
“Last year against RCB. I think we were 60-6 or 7, and basically, we should be bowled out for 90. He was in at the moment and absorbed pressure very well. Then he started hitting more and more sixes. The sixes he was hitting were out of the stadium. He ended up getting 87 runs off 40 balls,” Faf du Plessis stated in a video tweeted by CSK.
