India has announced an 18-woman squad to take on South Africa in the five-match ODI and three-match T20I series, starting in Lucknow from March 7.
Experienced Mithali Raji will lead the ODI team with Harmanpreet Kaur as her vice-captain. The T20I team will be led by Harmanpreet Kaur, while Smriti Mandhana has been appointed as vice-captain. Sushma Verma is making a comeback in both the ODI and T20I squads, replacing Taniya Bhatia.
South Africa women’s team arrives at Lucknow on February 27
Seasoned campaigner medium-pacer Shikha Pandey was dropped from the side. Even Shafali Verma was not chosen on the ODI side. Shafali has played in 19 T20 internationals so far.
The South African women’s cricket team will reach Lucknow on Saturday. The teams are likely to play a warm-up game before the ODI series kicks off. The first time Indian women will play international cricket since the T20 World Cup final a year ago.

Prathyusha, Simran Dil Bahadur.
The five ODI’s will take place first, on 7, 9, 12, 14, and 17 March. The three T20Is will then be held on 20, 21, and 24 March.
