Aakash Chopra Hails Arshdeep Singh as a Versatile Bowler for India
Former cricketer Aakash Chopra has praised Punjab bowler Arshdeep Singh, stating that he is a bowler capable of performing well in all three formats of the game for India. Arshdeep has been included in the Indian squad for the upcoming Asian Games 2023 in China.
Arshdeep Singh’s Impressive Performance and Selection
Arshdeep Singh has already played 3 ODIs and 26 T20Is for India, where he has taken a total of 41 wickets, with his best performance being 4 wickets for 37 runs. He made a significant impact in the T20 World Cup 2022 by dismissing Babar Azam on the very first ball he bowled in the tournament.
Although Chopra expressed surprise at Arshdeep’s inclusion in the Asian Games squad, he believes that Arshdeep is a player who can excel in all formats of the game for India.
Chopra’s Concerns and Speculations
Chopra voiced his surprise at Arshdeep not being considered for ODIs and T20Is, as well as being left out of the Asia Cup and World Cup squads. He also mentioned his curiosity about the exclusion of Mukesh Kumar from the World Cup race, despite him being a part of all three formats for the West Indies tour.
Chopra further emphasized the need for a fourth fast-bowling option in the Indian team for the World Cup 2023, alongside Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, and Mohammed Siraj. He speculated whether Arshdeep, Mukesh Kumar, or Umran Malik could be potential candidates for that role.
