Suresh Raina was an important part of India’s limited-overs team not very long ago. But it is safe to say that his international career is pretty much off the track now. In the last few three years, the left-handed batsman has got just a handful of chances.
He last played for India during the tour of England in 2018. Suresh Raina was making a comeback to international cricket through that tour only but was dropped straightaway after India returned from England as he failed to make chances count. Ever since he has not been tried even once although India was desperately waiting for a reliable batsman in the middle-order for last year’s World Cup.

It won’t be very surprising if Suresh Raina does not earn another recall anytime soon. He is well out of the picture now as the likes of Shreyas Iyer, Manish Pandey, Rishabh Pant, Kedar Jadhav from India’s middle-order now. And while only time will tell how things unfold for Suresh Raina, his Chennai Super Kings teammate Ambati Rayudu is confident that the southpaw would make a comeback in Team India.
Talking to sportswriter and presenter Rupha Ramani on CSK’s Instagram Live session, the batsman stated Suresh Raina looked in really good shape while training for the IPL in March. The IPL was scheduled to start on March 29 but has been canceled indefinitely due to the pandemic.
“He has a lot of cricket left in him. I am putting a bet on it that he would make a comeback for India,” stated Ambati Rayudu.
Ambati Rayudu further stated that he had a good time training with Raina in the Super Kings training camp, and the experience was quite nostalgic for him as he has known Raina since he was 16.
