Hilarious Incident in the Commentary Box at the 4th Ashes 2023 Test
During the 4th Ashes 2023 Test at Old Trafford in Manchester, something funny happened in the commentary box involving former England cricketers turned commentators, Nasser Hussain and Mark Butcher.
The Banter about Hussain’s Past Decision
On Day 2 of the thrilling Test match, former Australian captain Mark Taylor brought up a memory from nearly two decades ago when Australia dominated England. The discussion revolved around Hussain’s decision to bowl first at The Gabba Test in the 2002–03 Ashes series.
Taylor and Butcher playfully teased Hussain about his past decision, jokingly referring to it as “the famous Nasser, we’ll bowl first.” Butcher added a witty remark, saying, “We don’t mention that in this circle. Balls bouncing twice to get people out bowled or lbw or that toss decision.”
The Hilarious Slap and Bullying in the Workplace
In response to Butcher’s witty comment, Hussain playfully walked up to him and hilariously slapped his head, causing laughter among everyone in the commentary box. Butcher, showing his sense of humor, quickly joked, “Bullying in the workplace,” adding to the light-hearted moment. Former Australian skipper Ricky Ponting, who was also present, enjoyed the whole scenario and joined in on the laughter.

England’s Dominance Continues in the Fourth Test
Turning our attention to the ongoing fourth Test match, England maintained their dominance on the third day, with captain Ben Stokes and Harry Brook displaying aggressive intent. Stokes scored a well-earned half-century before getting dismissed by Pat Cummins after making 51 runs.
Nevertheless, Brook continued his aggressive style of play and reached his fifty during the 84th over. However, he also lost his wicket after scoring 61 runs. At the end of 92 overs, England’s score stood at 472/5, with Jonny Bairstow (15 not out) at the crease.
