Lucknow Super Giants Appoint Justin Langer as Head Coach, Part Ways with Andy Flower

The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) have announced the departure of Zimbabwe’s Andy Flower as the head coach of the franchise in the Indian Premier League (IPL) after two seasons. LSG has thanked Flower for his contribution and welcomed Australia’s Justin Langer as his replacement.

After the two-year contract of Andy Flower came to an end, Lucknow Super Giants expressed their gratitude towards him. The franchise posted on Twitter, “Dear Andy, Today it’s farewell, but it’ll never be goodbye because you’ll always be one of our own. Thank you for everything!”

LSG’s Success under Andy Flower

Under the guidance of Andy Flower as head coach, Gautam Gambhir as mentor, and KL Rahul as captain, LSG made it to the playoffs in both IPL 2022 and IPL 2023. In the latter half of IPL 2023, Krunal Pandya took over the captaincy after Rahul’s injury.

Justin Langer Takes Over as Head Coach

Justin Langer, the former Australia opener and head coach of the Australian cricket team, has been appointed as the new head coach of Lucknow Super Giants. Langer will lead the team in the upcoming season of IPL in 2024. LSG mentioned in a statement on their website that Langer has a successful track record, including winning the Ashes series and the T20 World Cup with Australia.
