The Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) board has appointed former head coach (2005-2007) Tom Moody as director of cricket.
Moody’s appointment comes after the SLC’s Technical Advisory Committee’s recommendations to restructure the board’s cricket operations.
Moody, who was the head coach when Sri Lanka reached the 2007 World Cup final, is given a 3-year contract that allows him to oversee all aspects of the game in the country.
The 55-year-old will play a key role in reviewing the board’s plans by analyzing future tour programs and developing the domestic tournament structure, among other things.
Sri Lanka Cricket CEO Ashley De Silva said on Moody’s appointment: “Tom has worked with Sri Lanka Cricket in the past and shown results, and I’m sure Tom with his working knowledge of the system will add more value to our game.”
Moody is known for his achievements at T20 tournaments around the world. The former Australian all-rounder was the director of cricket at the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) and had also coached IPL franchise Sunrisers Hyderabad before taking on the role of director of cricket with the same team for the upcoming season.
