Royal Challengers Bangalore: A Popular IPL Franchise with Star Players
Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) is one of the most popular franchises in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Over the years, they have had big-name players like Anil Kumble, Rahul Dravid, Yuvraj Singh, Dale Steyn, AB de Villiers, Chris Gayle, and Shane Watson associated with them. Despite their star power, RCB has struggled to win the IPL trophy, reaching the finals in 2009, 2011, and 2016 but falling short each time.
Yuzvendra Chahal’s Hilarious Take on RCB’s Title Drought
Yuzvendra Chahal, a former spinner for RCB from 2014 to 2021, admits that he doesn’t know why the franchise has been unable to secure an IPL trophy. In an interview on the Ranveer Show, Chahal humorously said, “I’ve been trying to find an answer to that question for 8 years.”
Chahal believes that RCB had their best chance to win the trophy in IPL 2016 when they were dominating other teams. However, they fell short once again, losing to Sunrisers Hyderabad in their home ground, the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
Chahal’s Contributions as RCB’s Leading Wicket-Taker
Chahal, who was released by RCB ahead of the IPL 2022 auction, is the leading wicket-taker for the franchise with 139 scalps in 114 games. He currently holds the record for the most wickets in all IPL matches, with 187 scalps in 145 games.
